Money

Working at a place that’s all about money really keeps me in check. Sometimes people come in happy, sometimes they come in agitated and edgy. It really makes me reflect on where I have to keep my heart. It’s a blessing that my manager is a Christian. He’s a reverent man, and he never ceases to amaze me.

He was talking to a client one day, and the client noticed that he was wearing a lot of brown. He pointed that out to my manager, and then said that brown is an implication that he is a lover of money. My manager just smiles and says “I’m in the business of money, but I don’t love money.” hahah wow.

Today for the last hour it was only me and him in the office. Casually I asked him what he was doing this weekend, only to discover he’s taking theology courses online, just for kicks. What proceeded was an hour of him giving me a crash course on some of the things he was reading. I don’t think I will ever forget the twinkle in his eyes when he said “Life with Jesus is the greatest adventure, and the most fulfilling.”

It’s encouraging to see people, especially older people, that are so in love with Jesus outside of a church setting.

God teach me to never to be a lover of money, that I will only serve You, and that I will be given the wisdom and discernment to use what You have blessed me with for Your kingdom. Keep my adventure with You awesome.

Two comic book pioneers, artists, legends, both of whom died this month.  Joe Simon (l.) died on 12/15 and Jerry Robinson died 12/7.  Simon is best known for his work with partner Jack Kirby, creating a stack of Golden Age heroes, most notably Captain America.  Robinson is best known for having created the Joker.  Both men contributed to the creation or development of countless characters, due to their talent and the creative ferment in the comic book studio scene of the ’40s.
